For Immediate Release: February 18, 2018 Gulfport, Mississippi
The KCR Classic Hunter Derby continued its success week II and saw 22 horse and rider teams hunt for the blue.
Professional Holly Shepherd of Grand Bay, Alabama and Belle Rolfe's Boure took the lead in the classic round with their score of 88 and combined with their leading handy score of 96, won the blue ribbon with an overall score of 184.

Shepherd and Rolfe's Cesar De Lison Z also sat in second place after the classic round with a score of 86, but their handy score of 95.5 for an overall 181.5 would have them finish in third place. Rebekah Warren's Cassico, ridden by Julie Curtin of Woodstock, Georgia sat in third position after the classic round with a score of 85 but their handy score of 97 moved them ahead of Shepherd and Cesar De LIson Z and into second place overall with an overall score of 181.5.
Helen Gilbert's White Lightening, ridden by Junior rider Isabella Bleu Baxter of Wright City, Missouri, turned in a classic hunter round with a score of 84.5 and with a 95.25 handy score, locked in a fourth place ribbon with an overall 179.75. Baxter also won the $1,000 Non-Pro High Rider Bonus.
Shepherd and Barbara Risius' Longstreet sat in sixth position after their classic round score of 83, but their handy score of 94 moved them into an overall fifth place finish with their combined score of 177.5.
Curtin returned to a sixth place finish with her own Honey Badger after earning a combined score of 177 and Re Chiste, owned by Sabina Holtzman and ridden by Carson Ruff of Jackson, Missouri, placed seventh with their overall score of 170. Ruff and Re Chiste also won the KCR Classic Derby High Bonus. Amy Watt and Titan's Independent Magic were awarded the KCR Classic Hunter Low Rider's Bonus [Photo credit: Alison Hartwell Photography] Eighth was awarded to Titan's Independent Magic, owned and ridden by Amy Watt of Hahnville, Louisiana for their overall score of 169 and they also won the Low Rider Bonus. Ruff returned to the ring for a ninth place ribbon, this time in the irons of Pagani, owned by Micaela Kennedy for their overall score of 153 and they also won the High Rider Bonus.
Player, owned and ridden by Jeanne Pitre of Folsom, Louisiana earned a tenth place finish and Lee Cesery's Shakespeare, ridden by Jason Berry of Verona, Virginia placed eleventh. Micaela Kennedy and Sabina Holtzman's Jerez Mail, ridden by Ruff, wrapped up the class with a twelfth place finish and also won the KCR Classic Derby Low Bonus.
SIDELINES 3' AND 3'3" GREEN HUNTERS! Honey Badger, owned and ridden by Julie Curtin won the Sidelines Green 3'3" Division with an overall score of 32.50, Cassino Royal, owned by Oak Ledge Farm and ridden by Jason Berry took reserve champion honors with their overall score of 20. Levity, owned by Lili Beiler Beiderman and ridden by Paige Parker of Southampton, New Jersey earned the championship in the Sidelines Green 3' Hunter Division and Ravello owned by Micaela Kennedy and Sabina Holtzman, ridden by Holly Shepherd, was awarded reserve champion.
